All Dolled Up: Holiday Charity Project
This project was inspired by the iconic Black Doll Experiment of the 1940s, which found that children identified dark-skinned dolls as bad, ugly or otherwise unfit to play with. Fast forward to 2013, and a similar test was conducted, this time around hair, and sadly the results were similar. (Click here to watch the experiments)
All Dolled Up was a call to action for the natural hair community to come together and make sure young minority girls have dolls that reflect their beauty, in hopes that they will learn at an early age that their brown skin and curly hair is beautiful.
